According to a study carried out by Dundee University, it was found that “smoke alarm frequencies are too high to wake most children”, specifically “boys”.

Their research showed that “most children slept through the sound emitted by a conventional fire alarm”.  In fact, the trial study resulted in just seven of 34 children waking up when the smoke alarms were sounded.
